So I enjoyed this movie, but I have read the books, and do not consider it a real adaptation. Let's just say that Ursula K. Le Guin described all of the characters as dark skinned, which could be from Tan to Black, in fact I am pretty sure there was one character she described to be as black as black can be... The only reason I am bringing this up, but the entire movie is white EXCEPT Danny Glover, which, iirc and it has been many years since I read the book, his character was the one described as very dark skinned.

Anyway, it is fun, and I enjoy the loose "adaptation" of a fantastic book (I kinda like Eragon and Endor too, sue me ;) ), as I let the book stay behind, and just enjoy it for the reference to the storyline at least.

Let's get 1 crucial point out of the way from the get-go... This book has everyone described as dark skinned, including different shades of how dark skinned they were... There is absolutely 1 singular dark skinned person in this movie, Danny Glover, and while he plays the character that I believe was described as having the darkest of skin tones in the book (It has been many years, forgive my memory), I laugh at the entire white cast, but not at their expense, just typical hollywood at the time.

I enjoyed this so long as I forget about the book, like most fantasy adaptations. It has no real feel of Ursula K Le Guin to it, sadly, but taking it solely as a fantasy tale, it was enjoyable, especially where I could tie the plot to Le Guin's writing (and She deservers her dues... She coined the term Ansible in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy world, she made it something outside of an ant/insect related thing, and Ender's Game would never have had it without her)
