In the second episode it seems that everyone is “in the money” except Labour Relations Officer Bernard Peck. All the staff have been awarded pay rises, including the two secretaries who are making plans for their forthcoming summer holidays. Managing Director Dicky Bligh has also been given a new car in appreciation of his services, by Sir Charles. Peck is being hounded by his bank manager and he decides to ask Bligh for a rise. All he gets is a key to the executive toilet and a surprise when he goes to use it. Having overheard one of the sales managers threaten to resign if he did not get a rise, and realising that this ploy might work, he immediately hands in his resignation, Bligh rubs his hands in glee. . .

Managing Director Dicky Bligh (Henry McGee) is going fishing, Bernard Peck (Lance Percival) is to attend his mother’s wedding (her second, he hastens to add), Sid Stubbins (Norman Bird) is off to London for a conference of his union's national executive and Bert Hamflitt (Dudley Sutton) is showing his prize marrow at the local women’s institute. That is until a ‘bullet maker’ in the guise of Fred Brewer (Derek Newark) puts a spanner in the works. He gives shop steward Sid Stubbins, his bullets to fire in the form of endless union demands, which must be thrashed out over the weekend.
