Completely missing the charm of the original, most likely due to the poor character animation. The background and effects were fine and are actually served well by CGI, but the heart of any animation are its' characters. It's hard to connect to those low quality, blocky, lifeless character models, so the distraction rips you from the actual story. This budget friendly trend in animation is ruining the art form. This is actually better than a lot of others I've seen, but it's still a far cry from competing with the human hand. I only hope they stop experimenting with beloved franchises in their attempts at cash grabs. (Berserk, Seven Deadly Sins, ...)

As someone who hasn't seen the original Trigun (though I certainly plan to), I'm not sure how to feel about this show. While the visuals are strikingly gorgeous at times, and I love the setting of the story, I'm just really struggling to connect with the plot and the characters. I feel like the pacing is wayyyy too fast. The characters feel one dimensional and it's not because they lack nuance or depth. It's just this uncomfortable pacing barely gives the characters time to develop and have a proper arc. Not sure if this show is fan service for long-time Trigun fans, or if the studio is just taking a beloved IP to test-run this new experimental CGI art style. Whichever it is they fall short for both options. I've learned to love and appreciate this art style thanks to other recent gorgeous animes (Land of the Lustrous). This show isn't terrible, it just feels like one extended pilot episode for CGI. Worth checking out if you've already seen all the other better animes I guess :p

Forget the original trigun series. this in a new genre, without fillers (and maybe it needed some to character development and integration) right straight to the point, maybe even a little to fast.. but once the premise is set, the season finale is awesome and breathe taking...
