A veteran beat cop and teenage girl fall to their deaths from a tower block in south-east London, leaving a five-year-old boy and rookie police officer Lizzie Griffiths on the roof, only for them to go missing. Detective Sergeant Sarah Collins is drafted in to investigate, working to find Lizzie before she comes to serious harm, but also to uncover the truth behind the grisly tower block deaths.

1 of 3. The daughter of a Libyan immigrant, identified as a criminal by the police, takes the child of her next door neighbor (dressed in a bear suit) to the top of a high rise block of flats. Three police people arrive (including the department head}, but the daughter and a ploliceman go over the edge. When the incident is in the process of review, the female police officer disappears. Tracked down at a seaside location, she runs.

Pretty average show, and found the story a bit far-fetched really. I mean ... why didn't she just say what happened in the beginning - it was an accident! and to say in the end "the force is better with you in it" after she shirked her responsibilities for the whole show ... laughable! Glad it was only three episodes.

Based on the novels by former policewoman Kate London, the four-season series covers the stories starring Sarah Collins. Feeling a bit rushed at times, the first seasons build up the characters well, but from the second onwards it can't help but be too conventional despite having ambiguous protagonists with different ways of approaching an investigation. But the clash between police officers only appears from time to time, and the series lacks the drive of a good thriller even though it tries to create constant dangerous situations. The third season directly falls into boredom.

No one does Crime Drama quite like the British. This drama looks into the efforts of police and the community (usually at odds with one another) trying to bring stability to their neighborhood, defined by a towering apartment complex, which is plagued by crime and violence. The acting is superb. The stories and characters are engaging. I gave this series an 8 (gripping) out of 10.
