Ming Lan ; the least favourable on the outside is timid , levelheaded shell but is a fierce , brilliant women who closed off her heart and want only to live amicably as her departed mother wished . Gu Ting Ye ; the next master of Gu family is brash , straighforward and wear his emotions on the collar but deeply searching for love . Quite a contrasting characters Yin & Yang are they a match made ? he wants emotions that are not faked ..she wants to be cared genuinely

Both fall in love with swindlers one noble & one humble and their love was not honoured and their worth & dignity destroyed but fate brings them together multiple times each time Gu falls in love with her and decided to scheme a plan to marry her (the most exciting part of the show) but will Lan heal the closed off heart due to her father & first love ? it will a pleasurable ride to watch.

Each character in this show is worth their silver; you will understand their emotions , their reasoning and their actions & its consequences .. with 73 (DVD) episodes the story has no plot hole and no stone left unturned ; it's never boring ; so exciting that i have taken the Monday off and watch 48 episodes straight on 40hrs without sleep . The most memorable arc was for me when [spoiler] Gu'er schemes to marry her ; first time in her life someone outsmarts the composed Lan'er [/spoiler] she was always level headed except when he is involved he know how her brain works you would see on their second meeting in the class he accurately guess how smart she is before she answers the Yan vs Yang crown prince battle ; IMO this is where he has fallen and not at the river like he claimed.

Feng & Liying were a IRL couple during the show so naturally their chemistry is good but it would be only in later episodes becoz she only opens her heart to him honestly during [spoiler] pregnancy [/spoiler].

Another thing to like is they eat a lot of food in the show and it always looks genuine like they are enjoying .. some many serious moments happen while they are having food especially Grandma and Ming Lan love their relationship and their meals together [spoiler] expect for one time where she was poisoned [/spoiler]

I really enjoyed the show there were a lot of memorable moments that would make me rewatch but are also similar to shows like Rebel Princess and Love Like a Galaxy ; may be falling in love after first failure seems to be the trope i'm into...
