The English Game is a captivating historical drama series that skillfully portrays the transition from amateur football to a professional sport in 19th-century England. The series not only delves into football history but also delivers a gripping narrative of class divides and personal conflicts.

However, there is a factual error in the series. It claims that Blackburn Rovers were the first team from northern England to win the FA Cup, which is incorrect. The first team from northern England to achieve this was Blackburn Olympic, who won the FA Cup in the 1882–83 season. Blackburn Rovers, however, went on to win three consecutive FA Cups in 1884, 1885, and 1886.

A highly watchable series that, unfortunately, was limited to only six episodes. One of the best in the sports drama genre. Hats off to the production. A solid 9/10 rating.
