[Update below] I really got caught up in the drama of a woman trying to survive and protect the life of her child in an ever increasing hostile world. The tension felt a little bit like QUEEN OF THE SOUTH cut with BREAKING BAD. The casting is unusual but the performances win out over time. The feel is gritty. I give this series an 8 (great) out of 10. [Crime Drama]

[26 May 2024]. There was a great loss heading into the third season of the series. In January, Adan Canto (1981 ‑ 2024) died of appendiceal cancer, leaving a huge hole in the lives of his family, friends, colleagues, fans and the series. The driving force of the first and second seasons was the chemistry of the leads, although all of the international cast brought a layered focus to the drama. The series still runs on the fuel of Elodie Yung but the paniced motivation of a critically ill son and the complexity of her key interpersonal relationship of the first two seasons, seems to have been stripped down in the second season to an incomprehensible and uncharacteristic thirst for revenge by Yung’s character. Hopefully, they can course correct in season 4. I give the season a hopeful 7 (hang in there) and the series an 8 (great performances) out of 10.

I swear, every time someone mentions TNT, I can't help but think of the Teenage Ninja Turtles. Those sewer-dwelling, pizza-loving heroes in a half-shell are just too iconic to forget - no?!

I could say "jokes apart," and continue, but let's be real, the entire premise of the show is a joke.
Let's talk about this show where a cardiothoracic surgeon becomes a cleaning lady for the mob, by accident; but wanting to stay so, by choice. I mean, what's next? A rocket scientist wanting to become a janitor at NASA? It's almost as if the writers were trying to create the most unbelievable storyline possible!

And don't even get me started on the mom who wants to stay back as a cleaning lady in the US, after her son's medical procedure, instead of going back to the Philippines, I mean, talk about commitment to the cleaning job... it is like her life's mission is to clean for the mob, because what choice does she have. Going back to the Philippines because divorce is outlawed there, sounds so much more rigorous and exacting. Talk about dedication to the job, her marriage and her motherhood!

All in all, I'm not sure what's more unbelievable - the show's plot or the dedication of these characters to their jobs. But hey, I guess that's why we love TV shows - they take us to places we never thought we'd go, and make us laugh along the way!

And I apologise for the sarcasm if it came out too strong. But then again, what do I know? I am not a mom, a wife or a cardiothoracic surgeon; and definitely don't want to be cancelled.
