I enjoy a _good_ TV drama. "Good" as in well-written, well-played, and well-acted. As I've aged, I'm paying more attention to what I spend my time on and what I don't. So when I saw Kerry Washington's name in the producer field, I paid attention. Loved 'Scandal' and Ms. Washington's projects since Scandal have not disappointed me. Did a little more research and saw that the creator/writer of this show also wrote a few episodes of 'Scandal' and was a co-producer of 'Little Fires Everywhere'. OK....cue the wine and shark-choo-choo board and let's get started.

Raamla Mohamed did a good job of writing into the script that Jax Stewart is a working mother/wife/daughter/friend - she really does love her husband and kids, she lets her guard down and relaxes around her trusted circle of a few friends, and still manages to spend time with her Mama. But all business when it's time to work. The lead actress, Emayatzy Corinealdi, was phenomenal. She nailed it. If other producers/writers/studios don't hire this actress for more projects - they're missing out on great talent. (you listening, Shonda Rhimes, out there in Shondaland??) She could easily carry a prime-time show. McKinley Freeman (one of the lead actors) brought a soothing calm to the main character's hurricane lifestyle. He pulled this off perfectly. His voice-tones, mannerisms, and expressions made you feel and understand what his character was experiencing. And then there's the other main lead actor, Michael Ealy. Always good in any role he plays. He plays the ying to Mr. Freeman's yang. Looks rough, talks rough but not loud, unpredictable but not wild. I think the entire cast did a good job at telling this story. The scenes with all the ladies on their nights together are right on target! I think this was a good TV show. But like I said, I like a good TV drama.

The overall storyline was possible ..... but not probable. Still good and entertaining, but a few things made me say WTH??
Jax allowing Lewis to keep access to the home video/camera system while they are separated (not just no, but hell no - strong woman like Jax would not let this happen); Lewis hiring a drop-dead gorgeous hunk of a man to guard his wife and kids while they are separated (again - not just no, but hell no - Lewis is nice and trusting but he's not stupid); Jax taking smack talk from her son more than once (nope, she's argues for a living. She wouldn't take that crap in her own home, especially from her kid. That would be shut down immediately); Damon carrying a 15yr love torch for Jax, especially if there's no contact or communication while he's in jail (possible, but probably he's over by 15yrs. Maybe 5-6yrs he'd still carrying feelings but not 15yrs); Damon hitting Jax's vehicle to kidnap her (if he loved her so, he wouldn't risk seriously injuring her, especially with how the show ends).
I hope to see another collaboration of Kerry Washington and Raamla Mohamed, or at least more work from Ms. Mohamed.
