Money and privilege does not erase racism. Mental healthcare is important no matter what your class. A picture may say a thousand words, but they are not always true ones.

It’s difficult to tell all without ripping apart family relationships beyond repair, so a lot was missing, but some illuminating things were said. They seem much happier now, and that will be good for their children. If only the royal institution cared at all about the humans behind the titles.

@gigaberry

> Money and privilege does not erase racism

Although that's perhaps true, it's really the other way round. Their privilege and a big portion of their money and fame stems directly or indirectly from the royal family. And the royal family was for centuries the top profiteers of colonialism. And that colonialism wasn't possible without racism. That's where the family fortune come from (oh an the fact that they do not believe in democracy nor that all people are born equal). Meghan and Harry complain about racism (rightfully though - I'm not saying racist against members of the royal family is okay) but always seem to forget the aforementioned part of the story. Don't you understand, that if that was real journalism, they would be reminded of this? Like real journalists would remind them, that you can't be a trusted climate activist but live the lifestyle they do. Or that they can't criticize the UK yellow press for violating their privacy, while they are not exactly camera shy (and move to Hollywood and be interviewed by the most famous US TV personality). They don't want to be left alone - they want to control their image and the stories written about them in the press though. Become more like a Danish or like a Dutch royal and you'll live a very normal life given that you're not exactly the first in the line of succession.
