Film 152 (Goal: 300) of 2024:

I was put on to Michelle Wolf by my sister, having never heard of her, or seen any of her work previously. I'm always on the lookout for more stand up routines. Everyone needs a good laugh plus their relatively short, which is always great.

Taking a chance on Michelle, I was really enjoying the first 2/3rds of this routine. There were some feminist jokes thrown in. It's common in a lot of routines and I don't mind that sort of stuff. But the last 3rd of the routine, is like Michelle just thought, "screw it" and went balls to the wall with every single joke being about how men are stupid, and how women are a "highly evolved species". I know some will read this and immediately think he's sexist, can't take a joke, etc. I would have the same issue, if a comedian, male or female, just rammed home the same joke again and again.

It's a shame because I thought up until that point Michelle had been fantastic, but those last 20 minutes are just the same point regurgitated over and over again. If it wasn't for Michelle's interesting delivery of lines, this would have lost me completely. I'd be willing to watch more of her sitcom again, after all, this was 5 years ago now. But I'm just hoping she spreads the topics a little more, because she's funny when she does.
