Probably one of the best horror series I've seen in a while. All kinds of creepy, disgusting and scary, all at the same time.

This is kind of an odd fish. The creepiness and scares are generally great (the casting of the creepy old lady couldn't have been better, for instance) but tonally it's a bit off in places, especially because of the musical cues.

The first half of the (first?) season is particularly guilty of doing this weird shift between "slightly quirky family/reunion drama" and genuine horror. The cop, for instance, is introduced like some kind of goofy oddball who's a big fan of Emma's books but then this is never touched on again. I also found the page-turning/chapter screens visually out of place, too; even though it's obviously about a novelist, it felt a bit too (again tonally) frivolous. This seems to happen less as the series goes on but it bugged me, especially as the horror bits were genuinely great so detracted from the overall impact, in my view.

Overall, certainly worth a watch but I hope that, if there is a second series, they play it much more like a straightforward horror.

I don't do subs but this one I tempted and OMG, I loved the series. Freaking kept me going. One of my all time favourite horror shows.

While the characters and plot occasionally felt thin, the visuals in this French mini-series were some of the best I’ve ever seen. The second episode in particular was so genuinely unsettling that I felt nervous when I went to bed that night and I’m not somebody who gets scared by most horror. The things that old woman did with her face were masterful and terrifying.

It was refreshing to see the influence of classic 80s slashers as well as more recent tropes, would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys elaborated plots with a touch of comedy and jumpscares!

Too much page turning put the story all over the place and by the end there's nothing here worth watching again. The dialogue was interesting. However, I really liked the back story of their childhood and how that brought clarity to the story. I wish there was more to explore there. It just felt like a lot was left out by the end.

Maybe for one or two scenes, this serie is soooo boring .. There's nothing to do with French cinema/series ... i just lost 8 hours of ma life .. The French don't know how to do a good serie ...
