There is nothing wrong with it content-wise. Although you wonder how any of the movies ever been made with all the negativity and problems. In addition, there's a lot of talk about George Lucas and he doesn't get the chance to respond to that. Whether that's because he's never been asked to participate (which would be my guess) or he doesn't wanted to I can only speculate about.
But I wonder, what happened to simply making an informative documentary? Is all that funny music and fast edditing really necessary ? Seems to be, because there a many similar docus ("The Movies that made us" or "The Center Seat" come to mind).

@finfan This was made by the same people who did "The Movies That Made Us", hence the similar style. They also seem to believe that you can be informative and entertaining at the same time. I personally like the style. If I had to bet, I'd say producers would have LOVED to have George Lucas as part of this series, but since 1) Lucasfilm/Disney Plus was making a documentary about the same time period ("Light & Magic") that he WAS participating in & 2) His ex-wife was going to be a featured commentator in in this one, I'd say it's more likely he declined than it is that he wasn't asked.

@farneyboy Thanks for the reply.

You are probably right concerning George's involvement. I wrote this before finishing the whole show. I wasn't aware about what happened between them.
But for me the style just doesn't work. Not here and not in the other ones I mentioned. It's personal like everything concerning comments. I found Light & Magic the far better show.

@finfan No worries! I like that we have both styles. I've been really enjoying "Light & Magic" as well and learned a ton of stuff I didn't know. It feels like with Icons Unearthed and Light & Magic we get a more complete picture of the process of making the original trilogy as it seems each one covers parts and gives different perspectives than the other.

Cheers!
