I Am Not Okay With This... Being Cancelled :(

Liked and enjoyed this show more than I expected. Finished in a almost one night because I easily binge-watched it. It's not perfect, but there are still many great things about it. Each episode was like a nicely packed sandwhich: engaging & well paced. It got better with each episode.

The cinematography, editing, special effects, & music were great. I'm an inspiring filmmaker so the aesthetic, visual and overall technical aspects of this whole show are like chocolate to me, pretty cool.

As for the story, it was luckily also engaging throughout. I was just going with the flow, curious and confused at times. I wanted to know where did Syd's dark superpower come from, how the romance will turn out, and why she was covered in blood in the beginning. I felt she was going to hurt someone but wasn't entirely sure on who. Honestly I thought it was going to be Stanley or Brad.

Sydney's a lead with a personality and appearance I haven't seen much in shows. She isn't very likeable in my opinion, even if she engaging and interesting to watch throughout. But not in an unlikable bad type-of-way. She's flawed with both good and bad sides to her and I appreciate that. I found a handful of her appearance, struggles, personality and situations relatable.

The other side characters were also interesting enough for their own parts. Nothing super groundbreaking but that's also alright. I think some of them are quite stereotypical (on purpose), but also not? I like that the two main characters were outcasts. Goob was also interesting and his and Syd's relationship.. relatable and cute. The antagonist Brad was a stereotypical jock & cliche at times, but it worked & I disliked him so that serves its part.

There's also this awkwardness that were a bit uncomfortable at times from some of the characters and scenes, but they were good and realistic.I also appreciate the small town setting. Also props to the cast's acting, quite impressive and I was particularly enamored by Stan's actor. The narration by Syd was also nice, it added to the show.

I do wish there was more character growth in the main character & agree with people who wish Dina & Syd's romantic relationship was built up more. As someone who's also queer, her sexuality journey along with those involved (Stan & Dina in this case) were understandable and even relatable - these things can be messy, confusing, and definitely easy so a part of me isn't bothered too much.

The story does feel unresolved with Syd's dark powers still not really being explained and who was following her. And I guess we will never know if the this never gets a S2. So with what we have in S1, I am both satisfied and unsatisfied. [/spoiler]

Long spill, but these are my current feelings and thoughts on this show.

If you are thinking about starting I Am Not Okay With This, I say go for it! Give it an episode or two a try. It's definitely not for everyone but you never know until you try.
