I knew this wouldn't be the pinnacle of sophistication, but even with low expectations I was disappointed. It's presented as an animated show for a mature audience, but the only thing "mature" about it is the frequency of the word "fuck" and sex jokes.

Imagine the cringe jokes you told as a little kid at sleepovers, emboldened to slip in a few curse words when the parents went to sleep. That's basically this show. A teenage mind trying waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too hard to be "edgy".

My ideal animated show for a mature audience would be something like early Rick & Morty seasons where they integrated deep and mature concepts, also witty humor that went beyond slapstick comedy. Then the later seasons tried to cater to a larger audience, and it devolved into shock humor like the whole episode about horse semen. Hazbin Hotel reminds me of the later seasons of Rick and Morty, but even worse, and with more spontaneous singing.
