This is one of many 80-90s family shows I grew up on and which also helped shape my view of the world, as well as consider what one's morals and values should probably look like. (Of course, that's aside from what my parents, thankfully, also taught me.) I'm rewatching this show for the 2nd time ever, now in my 50s, and still love the fantastic values they tried to instill. If you're looking for a reason to watch a great family friendly show, stop reading and go enjoy. Maybe come back after and read the rest.

As I said, while I'm thoroughly enjoying it, once more, I can't help thinking about the drama behind the scenes. How Kirk Cameron treated his costars and, especially, Julie McCullough was reprehensible and, mostly, well-documented. However, a lesser known long-running incident revolved around Tracy Gold (Carol) and it makes the episodes, sadly, significantly more difficult to enjoy. In the final season, Tracy needed to be treated for anorexia. While eating disorders are common in certain industries (and in general), it takes an excrutiatingly darker turn when you consider how many lines over the previous **SIX YEARS** were actually cruel commentary on Tracy's _completely normal_ physique, masked as comedic sibling rivalry. (Literally, that's how one of her bosses convinced the young teen actress to accept the insults.) Knowing the long-term effect these lines had on the actress, I now find it impossible to find humour when they're uttered and, instead, there's an extremely awkward feeling inside. I liken it to how I now feel watching The Cosby Show.
