Disregard for alchemy’s laws ripped half of Edward Elric’s limbs from his body and left his brother Alphonse’s soul clinging to a suit of armor. To restore what was lost, the brothers seek the Philosopher’s Stone. Enemies and allies – the corrupt military, the Homunculi, and foreign alchemists – will alter the Elric brothers course, but their purpose will remain unchanged and their bond unbreakable.

This is a masterpiece. Simple as that. Definitely in my top 3-5 animes of all time. This show has everything (comedy, romance, drama and, of course, tons of action). You fall in love with all of the characters and every side story and character really gets developed over 64 brilliant episodes. Don't think. Just watch.

Best anime ever. Even if you're not that much of an anime watcher, you must see this!

Not only is this one of the best anime shows ever made, it's arguably one of the best animated shows ever made. It has everything, it's accessible, it never drags but it doesn't feel too short. This is both an excellent introduction to anime for newcomers and something even the _weebiest_ will still love.

Aside from a couple of misguided filler episodes, this is the closest thing to what I could call a perfect show. Just an excellent, well-planned story that only gets better and more investing with every episode. The only consistently distracting thing I can think of is the slightly out-of-place cartoony humour at times, but in a series this dark some levity is appreciated. It's pretty noteworthy that this series exists at all, as this manga already had an adaptation that spiralled into a non-canon mess. Incredibly this one-ups Dragon Ball Kai by being a ground-up remake instead of a re-edit, and I think this formula needs to be implemented to save other anime that have been destroyed by greedy producers and horrible padding (cough cough NARUTO). But that's all I can say as far as recommending it, please just skip episodes 1 and 27 and otherwise go in totally blind. It'll be worth your while.
