As somebody who is not American and has never really been exposed to either this case or any of the people involved: is OJ really as dumb as he is presented here? He seems positively mentally disabled in some scenes! That aside, the show is decent enough. The performances are for the biggest part pretty great, everything else ranges from ok to decent enough. I don't find it very compelling, but I think that's down to me not having any prior ties to the story: I'm enjoying it as if it were pure fiction rather than a fictionalized account of reality. And it sure as hell is crazy enough to pass for fiction, mostly due to the ridiculously broken American legal system.

You don't have to know about the OJ case, or being expose to the characters. This is one of the best dramas on TV today! Every Tuesday I can't wait for the show to start. Great directing! Perfect cast! Awesome story! I hardly don't watch television anymore, because of dumb shows on today. Have no meaning. No plot. Corning as hell. I hope FX do a 2nd season!

There was a website called Fade To Black. They obtained the OJ suicide letter, it was filled with misspellings of common, simple words. So they dictated it to a 5 year old and he had fewer misspellings. So they took the results, and mailed it to the Dean of USC, his college, and asked how many yards does an illiterate running back need to run to get a degree from USC. My impression was he was like this show and now ESPN has a multipart 30 for 30 on him. I think he was a personable guy that had a temper and because of his athletic gifts pushed through school . Btw, my sister met him in the early 80s in Florida at a event on ABC called The Superstars. He was nice to her and gave her his phone number. She was a PE teacher with her Special Education class. Frank Gifford on the other hand was a turd.

https://web.archive.org/web/20001018025505/http://www.fadetoblack.com/

@acidfreecookies I believe what seems to you as mental disability is the result of what gave him initial fame: American "football," a sport increasingly indicted for its destructive effect on players' bodies and especially brains.
