Age of Samurai: Battle for Japan

[Netflix] A narration of the constant civil wars in Japan during the time of the samurais, mainly in the Azuchi-Momoyama period. It is curious that the story is narrated by Western historians, giving little space to Japanese researchers and authors, and using as one of the main narrators the controversial historian Stephen Turnbull, much discussed for the use of sources that are not recognized. It is also surprising how male historians talk about samurai warriors, but when talking about concubines, female historians are used, which proposes an extremely sexist position on the role of investigators in Japanese History. This is a documentary series that has little depth but can be used as a more or less superficial approach to one of the bloodiest eras in Japanese History, although in the process it seems too much like the mediocre historical re-enactments of the History Channel.
