Jeremy Joseph ("JJ") DeCeglie (born c. 1981) is a writer/film-maker from Fremantle, Western Australia. Literary Work DeCeglie's first work was the independently published novella the sea is not yet full in 2005. This was followed up by the short story collection In the Same Streets You'll Wander Endlessly in 2008. In 2010, Fontaine Press published Damned Good, a philosophical poker novel. Damned Good was named Australia's first poker novel by Poker News. A novella Ennui and Despair, was published in September 2010 by Olympia Press. Drawing Dead, a neo-noir novel was independently published in 2011. It was re-issued by Fahrenheit Press in 2017. Film career In 2013, Jugular, DeCeglie's first feature film (writer/director/producer) premiered at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival on Opening Night, where it won Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor (Gregory Pakis). The film was shot with a one-man crew in Melbourne and had a budget of around $6000. The film also screened at MonsterFest later in the year. His second feature film (writer/director/producer), the comedy Can't Win. Do Try, premiered at CineFestOz in 2016. The film was awarded Best Director and Best Actor (Matt Furlani) at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival 2017 and also screened at the Madrid International Film Festival, where Adriane Daff was nominated as Best Actress.
