_We_ is like a cloud because it was over my head and, if there was a point, I couldn't see it.

A young and very talented director made this documentary about the small cities implanted beside the tracks of the B line Paris commuter train (RER B).

I found it interesting the way she juxtaposed the affluent (often white) towns with the less luxurious (often non-white) neighborhoods, but many of the decisions she made detracted from any message she meant to communicate.

In addition to mixed messages (is the film about her family history or the varied populations that live beside the same tracks?), the choices of filming subjects was so confused that it was hard to see what she was aiming at. In one scene, for example, she's in the Shoah Memorial in Drancy, filming a film shown by the museum.

I'm looking forward to following the director's career and wish her all the best in her future endeavors, but I'm afraid her _We_ doesn't include me.
