Vicky and Sara latest social drama is mediocre but passable

My Rating : :star::star: ½ (55/100)

#ZaraHatkeZaraBachke is a middling family drama which could never reach its true potential of the quintessential social Indian drama. Serving as another rooted indian rom-com highlighting a pertinent issue but stays generic throughout. Writer-director #LaxmanUtekar captures the young urban couples’ urge to go nuclear in this comedy of errors that is not entirely logical and original, but still quite watchable. A formidable #VickyKaushal is let down by a underwhelming #SaraAliKhan, and the chemistry never takes off as expected. Some noteworthy supporting performances and an emotional climax makes it salvageable but the poor writing and lack of relatable humour definitely leaves this to be mediocre.

The album of the film really is beautiful, from Tere Vaaste to Phir Aur kya Chaiye to Saanjha all are beautiful melodies. The screenplay is weak as the writing struggles to keep you engaged and bother about the proceedings. Vicky Kaushal is fantastic but his potential isn't truly tested, Sara seems to improve compared to her previous works but still struggles to matchup to Vicku. Other ensemble cast including #SharibHashmi and #Inaamulhaq gives solid support.

Overall, a fun film which is essentially underwhelming in terms of standards set by Laxman Utekar after Mimi. A good watch in OTT but not in cinemas. Donot believe the bloated IMDB ratings and Google Ratings.
