I love movies that take chances and try to use new and creative methods to tell a story. Call it abstract, absurd, or whatever. I watch a couple of hundred movies a year, so I welcome different. The problem is that "different" is not always synonymous with "good". I love Swinton so much.... this movie just didn't work for me even though I gave it three chances (I fell asleep twice). I didn't love her character, although I think she may have done the best she could with the material.

A good-hearted and surreal work of imagination. Great writing and nuanced characters. The audience was laughing throughout and it managed to be touching without being cheesy.

Weird, colorful, and stark. A kind-hearted approach to various intersections of "other", Problemista is, quite decidedly, not for everyone. But for the people who resonate with it, it is a gem. Starkly looks at how society interacts with immigration policy, economic disparity, neurodivergence and compassion. It takes the stories of those who have fallen through the cracks in our world and stitches them together into an ending that felt... earned? Like i said, not for everyone, but I enjoyed my time with it.

Tries to do for visa, what *Everything Everywhere All At Once* did for taxes. I liked the imaginative sci-fi stuff and the themes of immigration but the comedy not so much, it's trying so hard to be funny but I didn't laugh. It hurts me to say this because I love Tilda Swinton but very annoying characters and performances.

Directly mirroring the absurdity of the US immigration and banking systems with it's overtly whacky visual style and presentation, Problemista is a wholly unique yet still somehow touching tale of fighting for what you want, and finding growth and friendship in the unlikeliest of places. It's difficult to recommend as it's delivery is anything but the status quo, but those able to stomach it's zany mannerisms will find a surprisingly sensitive character drama with a dash of social commentary and a sliver of sci-fi.

What was supposed to be a comedy ends up being an annoying movie. The ambience and colors are beautiful, the story is simple, but the development turns everything into a pretentious movie with unnecessary allegories and exaggerated performances, we have a protagonist without expression and another protagonist extremely exaggerated, the tones of voice chosen for each are annoying to hear. A difficult movie to finish.
