Trick or Treat

[8/10] For starters, that darn “Trick or Treat” song will get stuck in your head forever. It’s catchy as hell! No pun intended. But this is a great short. The premise is simple, with Donald pranking the boys, and accidentally getting crosswise with a witch, only for the Halloween “tricks” to be turned around on him via actual witchcraft. But it’s the execution that matters! I love the colors when Hazel is bubbling up her brew. I love the musical interlude when she enchants pumpkins, fence posts, and other bric-a-brac to sing along with the theme song. And I love the percussive air to her enchanting Donald’s feet and making him dance until he gives up the key to his cupboard. There’s some great spooky imagery, some creative and expressive movements to everyone involved (especially Hazel), and a catchy tune to anchor it all around. Pure Halloween fun!
