Ok, this was definitely a film. Very unique, but not for me.

It might have been different if the film had featured actual old people, as it would’ve added a layer of authenticity or commentary. Instead, it felt more like a group of friends shooting a Jackass-style parody, only without the humor or stunts that make that kind of thing entertaining. Sure, there’s an argument to be made about the nihilistic message or the critique of suburban monotony, but those themes didn’t resonate with me personally.

I’ll admit, the film is well-made in its own strange cosmos, and I can see why people celebrate it—it’s bizarre, chaotic, and operates on its own set of rules. On a surreal and almost absurdist level, I get the appeal. Also, it’s still a better found-footage movie than many others that claim to be. Trash Humpers definitely stands out for its raw, DIY aesthetic and unapologetic weirdness, but that’s also what made it hard for me to connect with. That said, I didn’t really enjoy watching what felt like homemade clips of people in grotesque masks doing strange and unsettling things.

For those who love exploring the fringes of art and film, there’s probably something here to dive into. But for me, it just didn’t click.
