The on brand loneliness and alienation as expected by Kiyoshi Kurosawa except no supernatural existential crisis this time but a Lost in Translation drama in Uzbekistan with some subtle comedy,
musical
and cheesy Japanese sentimentality on top. I'm confused and emotionally confused as well. But I find it a sort of good thing? It has several strong passages, some great scenic shots, though just like the transient state of the main character everything sort of keeps happening and is lost in time which I guess is consistent but also a bit fleeting as a movie experience. Ultimately I land it a seven. It is a good movie though I am missing something to hold on to when it is over.
