"To kill a mockingbird" is released in 1960's and set in a town in U.S. At that time, African Americans had still been discriminated strongly in that country. This is a classic American movie and the main character, Atticus Finch, has always won No.1 in a ranking of The best American hero in a film. He is a man who is against social prejudice, try to save justice and is also a good father. A such man has been ideal for Americans, I imagine. Here is a quote of his statement from the film.
"to this court in the cynical confidence that their testimony would not be doubted, confident that you gentlemen would go along with them on the assumption... the evil assumption that all Negroes lie, all Negroes are basically immoral beings, all Negro men are not to be trusted around our women. An assumption that one associates with minds of their caliber, and which is, in itself, gentlemen, a lie, which I do not need to point out to you."

A compilation of Scout and Jem running around, talking to other people, and investigating some "creepy" guy.

Slow-paced, boring, uneventful, even the final act.

Just a boring movie.

Surprisingly good movie! The built up is amazing. I thought that the first part would drag on, but that wasn’t the case at all. It builds up the characters and sets the scene. The trial changes the tone, but it takes the story about racial injustice to the next level while doing so. Some of the acting bothers me, but (other than that) it’s all amazingly done.

Some People complain about the first act but it's called character development. Since the movie is from the kids' point of view, you need to care about them first.

I get why the book is considered to be a classic, but this is a flawed adaptation.
The acting can really be wonky at points (Gregory Peck and Brock Peters excluded, both of whom are excellent), especially when you compare it to other classics from the ‘60s.
I also don’t think the set-up in the first hour needed to be that elaborate.
It’s almost to the point where all of the meat of the story is given to the second half.
Still, that second hour is so good, it makes up for a lot of the shortcomings.

7/10

To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) can be considered a true work of art, because in it, you can see excellent photography, good lighting, a very good script and a first casting. I envy those who in 1962 could appreciate this jewel in cinemas, because certainly, it is a film that address different issues, including racism, poverty, justice, morals, transports us to our childhood making us children again in clothes of Jem, Scout and Dill, transporting us to our younger years, and confirming that good triumphs over evil. Undoubtedly, To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), becomes one of my favorite movies.

I read this book in school, like everybody else, but didn't really remember anything from it. The first half is a little slow but the second half is much more interesting when it gets to the trial. Gregory Peck is fantastic. He is the dad we all want. Brock Peters gave a great performance in his limited screen time.

i don't get why the movie has two very different parts, like the 1st hour is about the kids getting into trouble (which no one cares about) and the 2nd part is the trial (which has nothing to do with the 1st part). I was expecting something else about this film.
