I suppose it's best to begin by saying this is a sequel to _Fury of the Wolfman_, I didn't know that before watching this, but in several parts I was thinking, "this has to be a part two of another movie." Either way, the movie still stands on its own.
There is a lot I liked about this film, and very little I didn't like.
Okay, the bad news is: the lighting is so bad in some scenes that I couldn't tell what was going on. However, that stopped bothering me by the end and became a feature adding to the atmosphere. This movie has atmosphere for days, and that's why I would recommend it to someone. Don't go in looking for a deep plot. Do you like fog, and creepiness? Well, you're in the right place!
Some of the shots are absolutely beautiful. The locations are spooky. The music is perfect. There are moments with slow motion that give the scenes an eerie, surreal quality.
Let's talk about the "vampire woman" (Nadasdy) for a moment. She's Elizabeth Bathory. That name is never said, but it's her. She's played by the beautiful Patty Shepard, who could be Barbara Steele's sister or possibly one of my ex girlfriends.
There was also a moment when I said, "wow, that's totally an homage to _Tombs of the Blind Dead_, but actually this was made first! Crazy! I love that movie!
Maybe a slight negative about this is for a film titled _The Werewolf Versus Vampire Woman_, their fight lasts all of one minute, tops. Finally, for a movie with vampires, and a werewolf, the biggest villain was a guy - I think his name was Pierre - dude was a straight-up rapist. That scumbag is interrupted by our werewolf - the great Paul Naschy - and it had me yelling at the television, "get him, Paul." And indeed he did.
Solid movie. Perfect for an October night.
