Totally unpredictable from the get go and such a disarmingly simple plot. This is a film that should not work so well. It's pretty slow-paced, and what little action there is results largely from sheer accidents on the main character's part. It is not a "thriller" in the sense that the viewer is constantly asking, what will happen next? Rather, what will this character do next? Every action and reaction of the characters made complete sense. And that's mainly because of Viggo's incredible performance at the helm, which actually made the unreal connection between all these characters, as well as the character of Chester, feel wholly believable until the last beat.

It was pretty dull to be honest. It's not a long movie, although it sure felt like so.

The Two Faces of January was a pretty good thriller, but one that ultimately wasn't very complex or satisfying. Viggo Mortensen was great and Kirsten Dunst was actually pretty decent compared to what I've previously seen her in. While the music was nice and fit the (also nice) setting, I felt like it didn't do very well as a soundtrack as it often created tension rather than just complimenting it.

An atmospheric noir thriller, _The Two Faces of January_ is full of suspense and mystery. Viggo Mortensen and Kirsten Dunst star as a married couple travelling through Greece, but when they’re discovered by a P.I. they enlist the help of a local tour guide to get them new passports and escape the country. The performances are fairly good, and the costumes and sets feel remarkable authentic to the time period. However, the story hints at more intrigue than there actually is, and it lacks a third act twist. Yet even though _The Two Faces of January_ doesn’t quite live-up to expectations, it still manages to deliver a compelling tale of deception and betrayal.

The elegant, engaging, mysterious and full of very good performances, The Two Faces of January, transports us to a glamorous vacation in Greece, vacation that was far from becoming a nightmare.

"Chester" (Viggo Mortensen) and wife "Colette" (Kirsten Dunst) are holidaying in Athens when they encounter the charismatic guide "Rydal" (Oscar Isaac). After a pleasant evening together, the couple return to their hotel where he is accosted by a private detective who subsequently has an accident! " More
