It's probably just me again that I can't really get into a movie that is generally considered a classic. But “The Thing from Another World” just wasn't my thing. There are far too many characters and far too much talking. And is there really anything more than clichés like the mad scientist or som sort of Frankenstein's monster?

In my opinion, “The Thing” from 1982 is one of the best horror films of all time. And since it is considered to be very faithful to the source material, I can only conclude that numerous things were changed for this 1951 version—and as a result, few of the core horror elements remain.

But it's not all bad. A few inspirations for the later adaptation are definitely noticeable. The movie also looks pretty decent for the early 1950s. And a fire stunt is even a real highlight. But overall, the movie was a bit too boring for me, although it does have a few good moments.
