Right, let’s see how we go about dealing with The Tall Man.

Firstly, at the end of the film I had to go and read the plot synopsis on Wikipedia because I hadn’t a fucking clue what had been going on.

I could start with my expectations going into watching it: bog-standard creepy child-abduction by some kind of Rumpelstiltskin figure.

Then report that I basically fell asleep after 40 mins. So I came to watch the remainder feeling fresher, even though I was watching at 4:20 (if you catch my drift).

No danger of falling asleep but there were many times when I seriously thought I’d put the wrong film on.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I’d literally lost the plot with all the twisty-turny things going on. And I’m not alone judging by many of the reviews I’ve seen on here.

I didn’t hate it because the final third was something approaching mesmerising.
It made so little sense that I’d just given up using my suspense of Disbelief entirely and merely accepted whatever new weirdness the screen offered as being realistic and credible, no matter how bonkers.

After that it was plain sailing. Thank god for Wikipedia though, I’d have been lost without it.

The mysterious organisation who redistribute children to better families is like a nice version of the Elite Hunting Club.
