Grim postapicolic drama swt in outback AU. You can almost taste the dirt. It probably doesnt bring anything new to the genre but the fine performances from the cast kept me glued to the screen. Still don’t know why Eric was so hellbent in getting his car back. Maybe something to do with making people take responsibility for their actions?

Slow burning Australian post-apo with great lead from Guy Pearce and awesome performance from Robert Pattinson. Loved the reveal at the end, it had me screaming at my TV "of course!". It's great when movies do that. Fantastic watch!

As bleak, dusty, dry and dour as the Australian vistas it frames, The Rover is a depressingly angsty look at the world post economic collapse for two people who've lost everything. More harrowing than a zombie apocalypse and made more interesting by never fully explaining itself, The Rover is dark and depressing, with an undercurrent of bubbling anger that is only sparingly released. When everything finally clicks into place, you'll still come away hollow, but you'll probably never forget the journey that it takes you on.
