A cinematic masterpiece. Watched this as a young child, and remembered this for the rest of my life. Now watched this again 40 years later and still as good as modern cinema. A true classic well ahead of its time. 1956 but the direction is superb. A true classic that can be watched by young and old.

I see that this featurette receives universal acclaim, so rather than embarras myself, I'll just say _The Red Balloon_ feels like a poem that's trying to rhyme.

Maybe an inspiration for Pixar's Up?
