Norma Aleandro and Analía Castro are superb in this. _La Historia oficial_ was the first film to expose the tragic evil of the Argentine dictatorship's destruction of families, through its introspective slower-paced portrayal of domestic conflict between husband and wife. I found _Cautiva_ (2004) much more gripping, and it did a superior job of unveiling the horrors of the dictatorship by taking the viewer along as its characters are 'disappeared' to the torture chambers, killing rooms, and delivery rooms where their newborns are stolen.

The original title of the film is La Historia Oficial.
