At least it wants to be a Nutcracker movie. The new Disney film barely resembles the story of the Nutcracker. This version feels like a strange and creepy Doctor Who episode but Nutcracker themed. Elle Fanning always lights up the screen though. Even when she’s in a not so great movie. The film is a mess but the new one looks like more of a mess.

I watched this back-to-back with the newer (as of January, 2019) Nutcracker movie (The Nutcracker and the Four Realms [2018]) and I liked this one better as it is more attuned for kids and as my 10-year-old said, it's more "Christmassy" than the Four Realms one.

I can understand the low ratings More
