The Mummy is an action adventure movie that does exactly what it set out to do. The CGI hasn't aged well but the action still works. The characters don't get a lot of attention and the acting is nothing special but the film is still very fun to watch.

Great romp in the sand, if you want a movie to switch the brain off, have a few glasses of wine, and a few laughs. Brendan Fraser is an empty shell, Rachael Wiesz is gorgeous but incompetent, and John Hannah does his best with contrived deliberate humour. Story wise, it's tiresome, predictable, and an absolute drag right to the end. When it came out the CGI was revolutionary, but it is no where near as impressive in 2017, the scarabs still rule however! The action is decent, getting better as it builds to the ending, but you will be glad when its over.

I really like this film, it is a great adventure film as well as having the slight horror aspect that keeps you on your toes!

Trying to cram action, adventure, fantasy, romance, comedy and horror into a single should not have worked, especially not in a Universal Monsters reboot, but 1999's _The Mummy_ is so much damn fun, that they manage to pull it off with aplomb.
