You may not know worldly history very well, but I assure you that when you start talking about preserving the race, it is never good.

Based on the novel by the same name, The mortal instruments – City of Bones is a 2013 film starring Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower as Clary and Jace.

Although the novel has twists that are sometimes not so original, some shameful transpositions have been dedicated to it, first of all the homonymous TV series (which we will talk about later as it also covers events relating to the second volume of the saga).

The film adaptation would have had great potential if it wasn’t for the lousy script.
The casting is stellar, we are talking about actors of the calibre of Lena Headey, Aidan Turner and Jonathan Rhys Meyers in supporting roles, whose performances however suffer particularly because it seems that these actors do not have material to work with. I particularly remember one of the final scenes in which Rhys Meyers and Jamie Campbell Bower act like two drunks and look at each other as if they didn’t believe in what they were doing.

A real shame as Lily Collins is perfect in the role of Clary and Jamie Campbell Bower is exactly how the reader imagines Jace while reading the novel (unlike his correspondent in the TV series, a mix between Ken and G.I. Joe).

The film as a whole has style both in terms of setting, costumes and special effects. The pace, however, is affected by the bad script and the vision is boring at times.

A real shame that this film has not been curated in the right way and that it has not been given the chance to have a sequel. Sequel, for which there was talk of an immense Sigourney Weaver in the role of the Inquisitor.

It is a movie to watch if you are a fan of the novel and want to have a complete knowledge of the fandom, but not recommended at all, I have already forgotten it.
