[spoiler]I hated those kids so much.[/spoiler]

[spoiler] Teenagers are the absolute worst. [/spoiler] This is, in my opinion, an improved version of _Hereditary_, as both stories are quite similar, but this one leaves out the tasteless supernaturalism and unintentional comedy that made that film miss the mark for me. The performances are quite strong, and they get more and more unsettling as the film goes on. It’s artsy (particularly with its cinematography choices), but never in an annoying or frustrating way. On the other hand, the characters could’ve used a little more development, and the movie sometimes cheats by teasing things that turn out to be a red herring, and can’t be explained after you’ve seen the film ([spoiler] for example, the door opening by itself gives the impression that you’re watching a haunted house movie, which has nothing to do with the movie that you’re watching [/spoiler]). It also wasn’t needed, as you’d still have the ‘she’s going crazy’ vs ‘the kids hate her’ tension without that red herring. 7/10
