The Legend of Suram Fortress

Visually it's really good. It's composed of a succession of scenes, mostly with an immobile camera, and they look like postcards, very finely designed. But the same way a series of pictures is not enough to be a movie, the scenes are a bit too disjointed. A lot can happen in between, sometimes years, that is just brushed over. So you barely get to know the characters. Actually there is not much of a story either, time pass and nothing much happens. So it's not really a movie with a scenario. Basically the whole story can be summed up in less than 15 short sentences. For each of these sentences there is a title card and a scene that is more like a painting with some action/dialogue going on. So this is what it is: the succession of these summary paintings of the story. Of course there are a bit more than 15 scenes, but several do not bring much to the story. It's a bit lacking if you expect a story, but if you just enjoy the visual style of these paintings, it's stunning.
