Interesting "passion project" (IMO) produced by, and starring Ali Larter as a woman determined that she is "not gonna be a victim" of some bad, bad folks who, other than their exacting leader, apparently belong to the gang who couldn't shoot straight, as well as Ron Perlman's stoic, but old school Sherriff, who seems good at his job, although he plays his "cards close to his vest", yet, is kind of just coasting along in his sleepy country territory, unaware of the cancer that has taken hold of it.

The secondary title could well have been, "hell hath no fury like a woman with nothing to lose", and/or "almost nobody gets out alive". Lots of scenes of Claire Redfield running from real life zombies, who unlike the undead, who, aren't trying to screw you over for a percentage, or some nebulous "principle", but then, becomming her own "Hero", turning the tables on them due to their mistaken belief that they are the scariest ones in the room, when it fact, it is actually Larter's "Susan".

Decent performances from a supporting cast of relative unknows and character actors, with a surprising(ish) twist as to her motivation and apparent skill set, as well as a surprisingly poignant, if not entirely believable (given the preceding events) ending'
