It uses horror to build a reflection of the passage of time, of the immediacy of beauty (Vera Valdez, the grandmother, was a model for Coco Chanel), wrapped in a story of witchcraft and decrepitude. It makes clever use of sounds, of the creaks of the old apartment, and has a soundtrack that sets a dark atmosphere rather than simply highlighting the tense moments. But it is a simple horror, low risk, whose references to "Repulsion" (Roman Polanski, 1975) works against him.

Aging is the true body horror. Predictable but it doesn't have to be a problem. Quite all right with forgivable flaws [spoiler]until the last act where it leans on tropes from the 00s regardless they fit or not [/spoiler]and it becomes the nail in the coffin of meh.

[spoiler]Another one to add to the: Terrifying old people sub-genre of horror movies lol Its not my favorite subgenre because I dont like people abusing each other. And of course its done here too. Ohh I hate the damn old hag grandma in this - it pains me to watch Susana being the victim of stupid witches who just cant accept that all things have to die - she changes diapers of the old bitch and what she get in the end... really felt with her :( Lets hope that not all grandmas are like that, that would be really hell!! Of course I hated the ending too. Otherwise as others have stated its a solid low budget horror movie, with good creepy atmosphere.Just the plot is not for me.[/spoiler]

It's creepy, looks and sounds great, Very much "Rosemary's Baby" feels. and scary- that we get old. unfortunately it tells you exactly what's happening within the first 2 minutes, and if you missed it, four or five more times just after that, and even more throughout with loads of not-at all-subtle imagery. Not a film for veteran movie watchers.
