[Annecy '24] Visually, the result achieved in a newly created animation studio and with animators who in some cases did not even have experience is surprising. Especially the scenes related to the objects created by the glass blowers and Tomas and Vincent's shop are of great beauty, and are cared for in detail. Although a certain fluidity is lost with the characters at times, there is a vibe to Hayao Miyazaki's films and Joe Hisaishi's music that works as a respectful homage. It is a pacifist story that comes from a country in continuous conflict with India, and it is interesting to incorporate elements from Arab mythology such as the djinn, a type of genius that can be inspiring but can also lead down wrong paths, representing the human contradictions.
