The Dish & the Spoon

Indie drama/romance. I was expecting this to be heavier than it was, but it was sweet, sort of funny, a little too slow for its own good. I watched this because I wanted to see another Greta Gerwig movie, and if that means anything to you, then you know exactly what I am talking about. The movie really is just two people: Rose, and... Boy - did we really never get his name? Anyway. It's just the two of them being random for ninety minutes. If that's not going to work for you, just steer clear. Now, there is a plot: Rose's husband cheated on her, and she's on a quest to pick up the pieces of her broken heart, and break the jaw of the bitch who banged her husband. I wish the movie had a bit more story to it, and I could have done without the fishing scene. Ultimately, it does a lot right. The moment when Greta dances while Boy plays piano, that's what will stick with me. The movie just reminds me of what it's like to fall in love with someone. Recommended for indie-romance fans only.
