had high hopes going into Detective, but unfortunately, this film turned out to be a disappointment. Despite an intriguing premise and what could have been a riveting story, it failed to deliver on almost every front. I found myself bored, confused, and ultimately frustrated by the end of the movie.

The pacing of Detective is one of its biggest issues. From the start, the movie struggles to establish any kind of rhythm or flow. It jumps from one scene to the next with little to no coherence, making it nearly impossible to follow what’s happening. The editing is choppy, and the transitions between scenes feel abrupt and disjointed. Just when I thought I had a grasp on the plot, the movie would pivot to an unrelated subplot, leaving me scratching my head.

The characters, too, are underwhelming. While the cast had potential, the script doesn’t give them much to work with. The protagonist, presumably meant to be a sharp and compelling detective, comes across as flat and unengaging. Their motivations are unclear, and their decisions often defy logic, making it hard to root for them or invest in their journey. The supporting characters are equally one-dimensional, serving as little more than props to move the convoluted story along.

The story itself is another major flaw. It’s not just that it’s complex—it’s unnecessarily convoluted. Twists and turns can make for a great detective story when done well, but here, they feel forced and unearned. Important plot points are glossed over, while insignificant details are given too much focus. The result is a narrative that’s both shallow and confusing, leaving viewers with more questions than answers—not in a good way.

To make matters worse, the movie is painfully boring. Even scenes meant to be high-stakes or action-packed fall flat due to lackluster direction and uninspired cinematography. The dialogue is dry and repetitive, and the lack of emotional depth makes it hard to care about what’s at stake. By the halfway point, I was counting the minutes until it was over.

I will say that Detective does have a few redeeming qualities. The atmospheric score, while not groundbreaking, adds some tension to certain scenes. The cinematography occasionally captures a compelling shot, and there are brief moments where the film hints at the potential it never fully realizes.

Unfortunately, those fleeting positives aren’t enough to save the movie from its glaring flaws. Detective is a tedious, hard-to-follow mess that fails to engage its audience. It lacks the sharp storytelling, dynamic characters, and suspenseful execution that make for a great detective story. If you’re a fan of the genre, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. This one is a case better left unsolved.

Final verdict: Skip it. Detective is a missed opportunity that squanders its potential and leaves viewers feeling disappointed. Save your time and energy for something more rewarding.
