An intriguing mystery that had me at the edge of my seat especially after
the first half of the movie to which I was pleasantly surprised and utterly shocked by the death of Jean Reno and the mental blight it caused Danielle. I saw Danielle ordering the hit from a mile away especially considering how the first act was structured. I still have a few questions like was M. Valmont also given the hit? What happened to Helene? Why was Danielle suddenly jealous with Nicole? What even happened between Jean and Danielle Reno for them to have a troubled marriage to begin with? And will the police ever see past the suicide story and see it was Karl and Nicole? I actually felt rather bad for Nicole at the end.

It was a nice dive into a bit of romance too, there was this particular scene with Nicole and Jean that I really loved because I both bought into her story and acting. It's pretty mundane I think upon rewatching the scene but Carroll's delivery of "Everytime I was with you I felt good" just sounded so sweet and powerful. That and the scene where Nicole recalls some traumatic memories were really just my favorite. It's rewarding playing it back from the start too because you see just every detail Karl must've planned beforehand.
Lovely film overall with some good acting. I wish the film provided more backstory. Really loved Jean-Louis Trintignant and Erika Blanc here. Watched a few times to improve my French listening but I do lightly recommend rewatching the story again once more after the first time. I also loved the soundtrack here.

Maybe a bit wacky that I even collected them but I have to include my favorite lines...
"Ça peut vous sembler ridicule, mais le monde est tellement banal que le moindre petit mystère nous étonne."

"Chaque fois que je me retrouvais avec toi, je me sentais bien."

"Je me suis permis d'entrer ici comme un voleur, alors laissez-moi sortir comme un ami."
