If you ever wondered what a 1990’s version of a demented John Kreese under a different name who finds Johnny Lawrence living in witness protection under the name of Ruben and Johnny’s New Teacher is Shingo - the “twin” brother of Chong Li from Bloodsport… then have I found the movie for you…

So let’s say Kreese leaves CA and moves to Mexico and becomes a Professional Shootfighter and wants to make it crazy deadly and bring in rich people to watch the fighters kill each other by maybe… ripping their throat out… and the fighters who dies is… Shingo’s student (Bolo Yeung)… don’t worry it’s not Johnny - yet… And Kreese/Mr. Lee really really wants to “fight” Shingo/Twin of Chong Li/Stand in for Mr. Miagyi… but Shingo/Miagyi isn’t having any of it….

So Shingo disappears to… CA… and takes in training Johnny Lawerence… Sorry “Ruben”…

And Ruben runs a (guess come on guess - you’ll never guess) a Dojo… teaching… Karate… but he is short of cash so he has to go to some loan sharks…

And while teaching a class…. Johnny’s… sorry Ruben’s girlfriend’s Brother comes back to visit… they hang out and defend themselves from the Loanshark goons…

Now Johnny/Ruben and Nick (his best friend and brother of his Girlfriend) fight each other in the regionals for the right to go to nationals and right hand man of Kreese/Mr. Lee… takes a perfect studio photo of Shingo… Johnny/Rueben… Nick…Cheryl (Johnny/Ruben’s Girlfriend)… and Jill (Cheryl’s best friend who she is trying to set up with her brother… and boy does she thirst after Nick… BAD)

Well Mr. C (The Right hand man of Mr. Lee) goes up to Johnny/Ruben and Nick and offers them $1,000 to come fight in Mexico as part of a team for his employer… who is very wealthy and generous… win or lose they get the money…

Johnny/Rueben and Nick fight and each win… but Johnny/Rueben… loves the rush of a real fight and the blood… so he starts to train on his own… hunting down gang members to beat up and when in the ring just likes to get hit in the head…. Repeatedly… and smiles…

While Nick apologizes to Shingo/Miaygi and Shingo/Miaygi trains him in the peaceful and tranquil way of stick fighting and running - getting ready for Nationals…

And the showdown between Johnny/Rueben and Kreese/Mr. Lee or Kreese/Mr. Lee and Shingo/they which it was Mr. Miaygi… you are just going to have to watch this gem of a movie that is NOT a want to be Karate Kid Part IV: Kreese’s Mexican Standoff aka Shootfighter.
