[Note: these are my immediate, off-the-cuff thoughts around half an hour after watching at the cinema]


Overall, this was a really fun time at the cinema.
[spoiler]_However_, if Sam is the person Sidney is passing the torch onto (I'm assuming - that's the vibe I got), they need to figure some stuff out because she definitely does not measure up to the legacy that has been left to her (again: assuming). In particular, I didn't believe any of her emotional scenes. I couldn't see past it being an actress delivering her lines.
I hated the killers. That entire final showdown scene was terrible.; they just reached a point where the writing was just silly. I can't believe those 2 idiots get to go down as the ones to have finally killed Dewey.
Hm... sitting and thinking about it, I'm not even sure if I'm that crazy about the general premise behind the movie. The motive of the killings. Maybe there's potential with the idea, but it could have been executed better[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Oh, also, if this is the "passing of the torch" to a new generation, this was not a good send-off for Sidney or Gale. At least Dewey - as sad as his death was for someone who loves the franchise - got an awesome death. Even if it had to be done by the aforementioned idiots...[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Some good stuff to end on: great, as always, to see our main trio back. Especially Sidney. The Billy Loomis cameo was an exciting surprise (although, in my opinion, they may have shown Sam seeing the vision of him one too many times). Jenna Ortega was fantastic; especially in the opening scene. I really liked Mindy Meeks-Martin and think she is a worthy successor of the "Randy" role. I really loved how Ghostface looked, how he moved, how they shot him, and there were some great kills.[/spoiler]

The more I think of the ending, the more I want to rate it lower... so I'm going to end this now. I really did have a fun time watching, but this has definitely gone right down to the bottom of my Scream movie tier list.
