Regardless of how you feel about Reagan as a president, the movie was somewhat mediocre. The critics are too harsh and the fans overrated it. It's a slow meandering docu-drama that could've used more editing work. It glosses over major things about Reagan, and mostly ends up as a confused disjointed celebratory piece. Reagan fans will probably enjoy it for celebrating Reagan.

Historically it's incredibly biased. It glosses over controversial points about Reagan such as his "reaganomics" which don't appear in the film at all. It doesn't cover his '84 campaign other than a silly single line that somehow won him 49 states? Surely there's more? The attribution to Reagan for the fall of the soviets also seems a bit... Dishonest.

All that being said I enjoyed that it covered his personal life and his rise to presidency. I enjoyed that it showed a lot of what brought about his thought process and values. In that regard it's very inspirational.

I do think it's a bit odd how the entire story was told from the Soviet point of view. It's an interesting creative choice.

All in all a 5/10 sorta movie. There's better political dramas out there, but it kept me engaged even if the production quality was lacking.
