Pivotal, poignant, ground-breaking lesbian love story that was banned in its home country of Kenya, East Africa. The world needs more honest reflections of love against the odds, that defies cultural taboos, homophobia, misogyny. And where the women aren't brutally punished by dying at the end - yes please!

Like Romeo and Juliet but with better music. Like Romeo and Juliet only it's set in Kenya and it's Juliet & Juliet. _Rafiki_ ('Friend' in Kenyan) is a sweet film, impulsive and naive like the first time you fall in love or, even better, the first time someone falls in love with you.
