@ecnef THIS. <br /> And okay, so he didn't have D.I.D., doesn't mean that he didn't have other mental health issues. Obviously he's been through some trauma.

@ecnef I think those who denigrate mental health would already see what's going on [spoiler]with Aaron as "fake" without the twist.[/spoiler] It's more interesting to me what role Laura Linney plays in this film. She's being squeezed from both sides with her male superiors and by Vail's subtle manipulations. Despite Linney's rejection of him, [spoiler]Vail tries it on again post-trial with her and it's then clear as to where the power lies in their dynamic. Dropping off the tape (especially of that nature) to her home residence isn't far from a stalker's behaviour. Vail knows that he's on thin ice when he puts Aaron on the stand and won't be able to bait Roy without Linney's provocation. Essentially, Vail's entire case hinged on putting a woman in harm's way, and he's fine with that.[/spoiler]
