[FlixOlé] Saura reaffirms his cinema from the thriller of obsessions, low instincts and psychological pathology. His first film with Geraldine Chaplin was also the film that stopped the screening to show solidarity with the students of May '68 and interrupt the Cannes Film Festival. The references to Luis Buñuel, Brigitte Bardot and his own brother Antonio Saura, the intriguing tone that seems to evoke Claude Chabrol and of course reminds one of Alfred Hitchcock, make up a work that unfolds uneasily, especially due to the representation of the male gaze ( those glances of José Luis López Vázquez) towards the desired female body, which represents something more than simple carnality: a yearning for freedom.
